Devlog #4 - Prospect
Hi there!
Ok, I have to admit that recent game update will be some kind of milestone of original game design idea development.
First - I do like how game feels from the atmospheric perspective. I consider sound design is quite good but not really happy with the Art.
Now the most intersting part - Game Design. I don't like how game feels from the Game Mechanic persepctive. It is far from how it should plays.
Few words on the Idea: there are number of active spawing points on the map from start. The more aggressive Player acts, more enemies he kills -> more spawing points gets active -> become harder to play.
At the current stage there are 4 regions:
- North (2 active spawing points)
- Center (no active spawing points, the place where player is starting)
- East (2 active spawing points)
- South (2 active spawing points)
Each region has a number of inactive spawing points, 2 active spawing points and 1 spawing manager.
To activate inactive spawing point you have to kill 5 enemies nearby. The problem is in Spawing manager. Next wave triggered only when all enemies from current wave has been eliminated. Because of this I have to put all spawned enemis at the players route. So there is no sense to activate new spawing point - it is doesn't change players behavious.
Also I don't like "Island" type of level design. It is limits the way how player can act.
Taking all these things into account - here what I'm going to try right now:
- Redevelop Art design. Maybe try 3D
- Change level design. No more "Islands"
- Redevelop spawing manager. Add it to every single spawing point or to small group of spawing points
